Everything was dark and black and cold. No light whatsoever penetrated through. I just felt, empty, I suppose. All I had ever seen melted into one memory, maybe of helpless. But nothing was my own - it all belonged to someone else, I felt. My hands were just useless extensions of my body that touched nothing close to me or anyone I knew. Second-hand convictions on what was right, which was wrong, were all I was taught in that place.

Uneasy.

It was hard to have to suffer like this, all the bloody time. You have to sneak back into the city, avoid their patrols, gain information, and get back to Ground Zero, and then you have to do it every single week so everyone has the "best information". I sound like I'm being ungrateful, but I know it's an important job, one that someone else could easily do. Except they don't know my source; no-one does apart from me, and I want to keep it that way. Some days, though, I don't do this, because I did it the day before, or the day before that.
